The phenolic constituents and antimicrobial activity of Xanthium spinosum (asteraceae) extracts

چکیده

Xanthium spinosum is a cosmopolitan annual herb used in traditional medicine worldwide. Although known from ethnobotanical studies, the species scarcely investigated aspects of phytochemistry and biological activity. Therefore, phenolic composition activity X. were examined. Plant specialised metabolites (phenolics) extracted roots, leaves fruits with dichloromethane:methanol (1:1) analysed by liquid chromatography mass spectrometry (LC-MS). In total 10 compounds identified quantified. Six common to all extracts. Chlorogenic acid was most abundant constituent extracts (4.262 mg/g fruit extract, 0.820 leaf 0.540 root extract). The (antimicrobial antibiofilm) tested against 12 microfungi bacterial strains microdilution method. All exhibited moderate antimicrobial antibiofilm inhibited growth examined microorganisms. obtained results indicate potential role pharmacy medicine.
